God Medicine

My Liberian friend respectfully covered her head, as she bent down beside me.

“Ruth, please pray for me,” she pleaded; my back is aching from bending over day after day in the rice fields. I am on my way to the hospital for some pain relief, but I know that even now God can heal me.”

I clasped her hand in mine and encircled her shoulders with my arms.

“Dear Jesus, You have proved Yourself the Mighty Healer in my life time after time. Now please do the same for my friend.”

I didn’t hear about the results until a week later when my friend asked me to pray again for God’s healing, this time of her migraine headache.

“I need some more God Medicine,” she informed me. “On the day you prayed for my back, I was able to go work in the rice fields instead of journeying to the doctor. See my back is healed!”

She proceeded to show me that her back was completely well by jumping, stretching, and bending up and down. Then suddenly she snapped back into the moment.

“Oh, but now I want Jesus to heal my head.” So hand in hand we bowed our heads, pleading God’s mercy.

“Dear Jesus, my friend needs Your healing touch again.” God heard our plea and answered! My friend’s headache went away.

With joy filled laughter, words bubbled passionately out of her mouth, “God is my Doctor! Thank you, thank you, Jesus!”

God says in Exodus 15:26 “I am the Lord Who heals you.”
