What Great Joy

What Great Joy it has been for Gary and me to talk with our Liberian friends and hear what God has been doing in their lives! Third John verse four says, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” Though Gary and I had been gone from Liberia for over two years, yet God was still working with our Liberian children!
It has been such a blessing to hear all their stories. One of our Liberian sons shared what God is doing through him and his pastor to reach the youth of Liberia for Jesus. “Ma Ruth,” he told me, “I am available to serve the Lord wherever and however God desires, without the reward of being paid.”
Another one of our sons shared how that God is giving him wisdom to share amongst church leaders. God has gifted our son with an effective way of answering their questions with questions, much the same way Jesus did, which in turn redirects their thinking to find solutions for themselves in God’s Word!
We also heard a beautiful story from one of our Liberian daughters. She shared how that God had given her boldness to witness to her fellow classmate and the patience to pray for him, even as he taunted her and ridiculed God. Then one day she was amazed to see him preaching about Jesus on the city streets, Holy Bible in hand. When he offered an invitation to follow Christ, our daughter stepped out into the preacher’s view! After his initial shock, the preacher hugged her in front of everyone, crying with joy. “Thank you, my sister for telling me about Jesus, and thank you for never giving up on me!”
