Roller Coasters
If you have ever been to Magic Mountain in California, you know about roller coaster rides with their hairpin turns and deep dives! Well, Gary and I are on a roller coaster ride that has plunged us back into American society. As of Tuesday March 24, 2009 we are officially on extended furlough in the United States of America. Financial concerns must be resolved before we can return to Liberia.
But God is navigating our roller coaster and we have already experienced His faithfulness. One friend facing cancer and excruciating pain emptied her piggy bank of personal savings to help Gary and me. Another friend who has recently lost his job gave joyfully to our ministry in Liberia. Family has been graciously feeding us, which is quite a challenge when I eat every four hours! As of today neither Gary nor I have a paying job, but we still have a faithful God. Lamentations 3:22, 23 say: “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassion never fails; they are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness!”
As I was taking my morning walk and listening to God’s still small voice, the Holy Spirit created in my mind a beautiful song. “God is navigating our canoe; He knows exactly what to do! So why should I be blue?
Above is a snapshot of a wonderful stay Gary and I enjoyed in our Liberian Pastor’s hometown village, photographed just before we returned to the USA. The village of our Pastor’s childhood is located in Liberia’s upper Lofa County, bordering the West African country of Guinea.
