The day I accepted the challenge of discipling a pastor’s wife one on one, I did not know what that all meant. Surely God had a sense of humor. For the past six weeks I have been sharing with Michelle a journey of “How to know God Personally.” I started this journey with just Michelle, but then I won the love of her daughter. Now I hold her newborn son!
PS. Standing behind Michelle is her mother, who is somewhat embarrassed to have her picture taken.

My husband Gary thoroughly enjoys sharing with his Liberian friends “How to Know God Personally,” a four week discipleship adventure. Pastor Emmanuel is one of the four Pastors with whom my husband is currently working. In this photo Pastor Emmanuel is passing on what he has learned to one of his church leaders!

Congratulations, Jerry Tomba; you have successfully journeyed through four weeks of “Knowing God Personally”!
“Knowing God Personally” (produced by Multiplication Ministries out of California, USA) is designed ‘to help establish another believer in some basic truths of the Christian faith.’ It is designed to be shared in an interactive, one on one, and “discover for yourself” setting. The four sessions are: 1 Beginning with God 2 Fellowship with God 3 Power to Live for God and 4 Growing as a Child of God.

“Strengthened with all might according to God’s glorious power, for all patience with joy.” American Society is about “me”– my rights, my success, my time, my fun. African Society is about “we”– our togetherness, our wishes, our success, our time.
I am learning to adjust from an American mindset to an African way of thinking, but I daily need to be strengthened with ALL God’s power so that I can have ALL patience with JOY! Sometimes, though, I just need a break! Here is a photo of me just after having taken ‘a break’ at the Gardens Restaurant on Robertsfield Highway.
