Aunt Clara

Aunt Clara was a wonderful lady whom I met in Liberia. She was so much fun to be around because she had such a bubbly personality, plus she loved to sing and dance! One of the songs that she wrote and danced to while at Radio Station ELWA was “Green Green Christmas”……..

“Some folks like a cold cold Christmas with lots of ice and snow. They put on coats and sweaters, and away away they go. But I don’t like it cold; don’t like to walk on ice and snow. I like a green green Christmas with fresh green everywhere. Green bushes, green grass, flowers blooming here and there. Green trees, green palms, a-waving in the air– Boom, Boom, Boom….. I like a green green Christmas with fresh green everywhere. Green trees a-waving to great the ‘Infant King’!”

Ruth… I am so happy to hear you and Gary want to return to our dear adopted land of Liberia. God has His Hand upon you both and I know He will provide all that you need to serve the spiritual, physical & emotional needs of the people there. I will be interested in finding out what kind of response you get from posting your newsletter in this way. Appreciated your storying so much! Love to your whole family

I wanted to sing Aunt Clara’s “Green Green Christmas” to my kids today but could not find it in my files. I was so thrilled to find it on the net when I googled “green green Christmas Aunt Clara” !!! Thanks so much for helping me pass on a wonderful memory to my children. One of my earliest memories is sitting at the feet of Aunt Clara as she told us stories. I also vividly remember my mother getting the call that Aunt Clara was dying and watching her jump in our car and skid out onto the gravel beach road to go and be at her side. Sara (Buck) Graham
