How Spider Got His Tiny Waist

Lazy Spider never liked to work; all he did was eat and sleep. That is why he had such a round big fat belly! One day as Spider was resting under the shade of a palm tree, a man from Nogie Town walked by. The exchanged greetings and then the man from Nogie Town invited Spider to the big feast at his village. “OK,” replied Spider, “call me when the ‘chop’ is all prepared! See this rope? Tie it around mu waist, and take one end with you. Pull it when the the food is ready to eat.” The man did as he was told and left for his village to began preparations for a huge feast. While Spider was congratulating himself on his clever plan, a man from King Grey walked by, greeted Spider, and invited him to his village for a big celebation of eating and dancing. Of course Spider agreed, so long as he did not have to do any of the work! Spider advised the man to take the other end of the rope that was tied aroung his waist, with him to King Grey. That way the man need only pull on the rope when the food was ready to eat, and Spider would come. Well, I think you can guess what happened! When the meals were ready, both villages pulled on their end of the same rope that was tied around Spider’s fat belly. The more the villagers pulled, the more his belly squeezed until all he had left was a very tiny waist! And to this day spiders have tiny waists!
